Westford, Mass., March 21 -- Proliphix has announced that the Del Valle Independent School District (ISD) in Del Valle, Texas, has selected the company's NT-130 IP Thermostat for all of its 170 portable classrooms. The announcement concludes a comprehensive review of several alternatives.
Del Valle ISD will begin installing Proliphix' IP Thermostats throughout district immediately. The implementation is an expansion of a successful multi-classroom pilot program begun in late 2007. Driven by the need to reduce energy costs and to also help in satisfying the requirements of Texas House Bill 3693, the program measured the impact of Proliphix' IP Thermostat on portable classroom energy use. During the pilot program Del Valle ISD was able to see a potential energy savings through the use of the Proliphix devices. Another major benefit to the district is the ability for maintenance personnel to remotely access individual portable classroom thermostats from any network-connected PC eliminating the need to dispatch manpower and equipment. Along with freeing up personnel for more important maintenance tasks, this feature of the Proliphix IP Thermostat also contributed to the reduction in energy use and green house gas emissions.
The district is also excited about the prospect of managing all portable classrooms through a single unified interface. Proliphix UniVista™ software offers Del Valle ISD the ability to administer Proliphix IP devices in geographically diverse classrooms. By utilizing UniVista the district will also have the ability to participate in energy demand management to help the local utility limit peak demand to further reduce energy costs.
